Camping is a great way to take a vacation, just by yourself
or with the whole family. The whole family gets involved
when camping. They kids can help with setting up the tent
or gathering firewood. Plus, it is a inexpensive vacation.
If you don't own any camping gear, it costs about $600 to
grab some and it's only a one-time cost. Then spend about
$200 on food, gas and ice, and you have a low cost
vacation.
Hiking, fishing, there is so much to do when camping. Some
camping grounds even offer swimming and show movies at
night. Another great camping perk is watching the sunset or
start glazing. Since most camp grounds are away from city
lights, the stars will be amazing.
Like all vacations, you'll need to plan a camping one too!
First you have to decide on shelter. Are you using a tent,
a RV or a cabin? I would recommend a tent for first time or
light campers. Tents only cost between $60-$200 dollars.
They provide protect against bugs and rain. Next I would
bring a sleeping bag. You'll need something to keep warm at
night. And then I would take a pad. Pads are soft and bring
comfort to any camping trip.
One last thing is food. If you plan on eating simply, then
a bag of charcoal and hamburger beef will be enough for
you. Most camping grounds will already have a grill there.
You will also need to bring a cooler for drinks and to keep
the meat cold. If you want a regular meal, you can bring a
propane stove, for stove top meals. You can even bring a
Dutch oven for baking.
Here are some tips for making your camping trip smooth.
Plan months in advance. That way, you are prepared and not
scrambling around at the last minute trying to get things
together.
When camping, make a check list of everything you're going
to need. As you pack, check things off the list. These
lowers your chances of forgetting something.
Camping provides the best, cheap vacation for everyone. It
doesn't cost much, and there is always something to do.
